Society of Correctional Physicians

The Society of Correctional Physicians (SCP) is a rapidly growing organization that exists for the professional development of "in-the-trenches" correctional physicians. Its unique set of member benefits reflect the values and unfailing commitment of an ever-expanding member network. All programs are developed by the SCP Board of Directors and committees to enable members to stay well-connected to each other.

Peer-to-Peer Networking

Through its annual conference, member directory, listserve, Web site and other vehicles, SCP members are provided several forums for support, education and networking with their colleagues. Members receive discounted conference registration.

Professional Development

The SCP provides myriad avenues of professional development, most notably via peer-to-peer communication, an annual conference, online resources, and other specially-developed educational opportunities.

Advocacy

Members can look to the SCP for advocacy and information and to promote goals and standards beneficial to all correctional physicians. It provides information on the latest issues of concern to those in the field. The society promotes, improves, and — if necessary — defends the standards of care extended by members.

Recognition

Special awards and designations honor members whose contributions to the Society and to the field of correctional medicine merit special recognition.
